SGH’s charity arm, The Sam and Nada Simon Foundation, seeks to support veterans and members of our military whenever possible. One of the ways in which we accomplish this is by providing holiday meals to veterans several times per year. Located in close proximity to VA Hospitals across the country are Fisher House comfort homes. Operated by the Fisher House Foundation, the homes are open to any veteran receiving treatment at VA hospitals, and they provide a safe and comfortable place to stay for vets and their families, free of charge.
For the past few years, our Foundation has provided Thanksgiving and Christmas meals to guests of the Michigan Fisher House in Ann Arbor. For the first time this year, we brought a Christmas feast to the original Fisher House comfort home in Houston, Texas.
Sharing a meal and hearing the stories of these veterans from all walks of life is truly one of the highlights of our year, and we are thrilled to have had the opportunity to reach even more veterans than we normally do. We are already looking forward to our next visit. We would like to thank the gracious staff of Fisher House and our team of volunteers- our founder, Nada Simon, Team Members Arkeisha Curry, Carlos Holguin, Valeria Martinez, Ryan Michalak, and Ryan’s wife, Stacey.
