Our History

Simon Group Holdings (SGH) was created in 1985 with the founding of Atlas Oil Company by Sam Simon and continues to grow with more than 30 years of successful operational entrepreneurship. SGH has interests in comprehensive energy solutions; fuel supply; oil field services; logistics and transportation; real estate investment; private equity; technology services; and turnkey modular solutions. Our leadership team is intimately familiar with the businesses they run due to their extensive operational industry experience, making them exceptional strategic advisors. Our entrepreneurial approach has resulted in the creation of three new businesses over the last two years (Vixta Solutions, Fuel Now Network, and Vesta Modular Solutions), along with significant investments in three additional companies (Empire, Corporate Eagle, and Tikoo Solutions) within that same timeframe. We’re not satisfied with the status quo, but continually evolve to meet the needs of our customers by identifying and seizing market opportunities others often miss.

We’re committed to Detroit and the state of Michigan. We’ve invested $80M over 25 years in metro Detroit. By buying distressed properties and helping entrepreneurs become business owners we’re contributing to the city’s revitalization. We take our corporate citizenship seriously. We’re committed to serving and helping others directly, especially in communities where we live and work. We encourage each of our more than 500 employees to volunteer for a day at the charity of his or her choice. Over the last 10 years this equals more than 40,000 employee volunteer hours supporting primarily Metro-Detroit organizations. In 2007, we created Atlas Cares and have helped numerous organizations including Cornerstone Schools in Detroit, and the Capuchin Soup Kitchen through both financial and direct involvement.  We’re dedicated to helping military personnel and their families as a way to show our gratitude for their selfless service. In December, we’ll host the 10th holiday party for service personnel and their families at Selfridge Air National Guard base. Last year 120 employee volunteers helped host about 4,000 military personnel and their families.
